The Best of Oscars 2012
It’s awards season and who’s not paying attention to the red carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, only one of the most important fashion moments in the silver screen business?
Here are my top picks of the night. Seeing lots of whites this year, and surprised that I haven’t seen much Marchesa on the red carpet (on the actresses, not on dates!)
THE WHITES
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
I have a thing for capes, and it’s awesome to see it on the red carpet! Gwyneth Paltrow gives us a sneak preview of Tom Ford’s Fall 2012 (yes it’s only February!) and the designer managed to incorporate the cape into couture while steering away from the superhero theme.
Giambattista Valli for Macy’s Holiday 2011 Collection
Giambattista Valli is spicing up this holiday season with leopard prints and reds with his collaboration for Impulse by Macy’s available this month.
The capsule collection features a variety of party ready dresses in an array of festive colors, ruffled tops, and patterned trousers.
“This capsule reflects my enduring loves, but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all — the energy and vitality of women themselves,” Valli explains. “This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself.”
Prices will range from US$50 to $150 and the collection will be available at 225 Macy’s store across the US and on Macy’s.com starting from October 26.
